The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
